Every year we need to raise over £200,000 to cover both capital costs and running costs
The Pegasus Centre is the home of the Morpeth group of the Riding for the Disabled Association.
Riding is recognised as providing wonderful therapeutic benefits to people with disabilities. The RDA is recognised as the leading body for delivering riding activities for disabled people internationally.
Morpeth Group RDA at the Pegasus Centre
Morpeth Group RDA benefits from the Pegasus Centre’s state-of-the-art facilities including indoor and outdoor arenas with dust free surfaces and galleried viewing. The Indoor arena has a special mounting area and a hoist for riders with mobility disabilities.
Pegasus Centre Instructors have specialist RDA qualifications in addition to being British Horse Society approved instructors. In addition all staff and volunteers who assist with lessons for riders with disabilities receive training in how to understand and help people with disabilities to get the most out of their time in lessons.
All the Pegasus Centre horses and ponies are carefully chosen for their temperament, size and ability to work with disabled children and adults.

The promotional video below has been produced for RDA National and gives a good overview of the work done by RDA Groups across the country:
What People Say About Us
‘Michael has been attending his RDA sessions for over 10 years now . Over the years it has been wonderful to see his confidence and self-esteem grow as he handles the horses with increasing authority. The RDA sessions are a vital part of his weekly physiotherapy exercise routine – developing his core stability, balance, fine and gross motor skills and spatial awareness.’
Will Benson – Parent of RDA Rider
‘The children had a fantastic and worthwhile experience at Pegasus. The staff and volunteers are excellent with the children and have given them a great life long memory.’
Simon Burke – Teacher – Kenton Bank Primary School
‘Many thanks to you all for teaching our son to have confidence in himself and his abilities – seeing him looking all grown up and smart in his boots, jodhpurs, jacket and tie makes us very proud and we hope that he will continue to get a lot of pleasure out of his horse riding.’
